Express Entry System

The above occupations (except for long-haul truck driver) can be applied for through the Express Entry system (which was introduced in 2015) but candidates must still meet the criteria for the respective programs.

They are all occupations that are classified as category 0, A or B according to the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

This system controls the three federal programs, namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class which fast-track applications to be processed in as little as six months.

How to Apply

Apply for the Express Entry system by creating an online profile and selecting the program of your choice.

Your profile is then scored according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which measures things such as education level, work experience and language proficiency.

You are then entered into the Express Entry pool which measures your profile against others.

A draw then takes place every two weeks, selecting the highest scoring candidates and issuing them with an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
